THE DOGTOWN PHOTOGRAPHER.
Craig Stecyk is a Southern California native from the heart of Dogtown. One of the co-founders of the Zephyr surfboard and skateboard store, Stecyk spent four decades documenting the bring up of the Californian skate history by filming and photographing.
In the late 70’s, the re-birth of the skateboarder magazine, Craig Stecyk being one of the original skateboarding documenters started up what was known as the “DOGTOWN ARTICLES” taking photos and writing articles on skateboarding pioneers such as Jay Adams, Stacey Peralta and Tony Alva.
Craig Stecyk’s gnarly journalistic style was very honest showing the crazy lifestyle of living on the beachfront south side of Venice. Many of his artwork show the rebellion and danger of living in Dogtown.
He is know also known as the co-writer for the award-winning documentary DOGTOWN AND THE Z-BOYS in 2001 and the 2005 hit movie LORDS OF DOGTOWN.
